Sportsmanship......Teamwork......Integrity
Fort Calhoun Youth Sports Organization is pleased to provide concessions during our youth sports activities.  The concession stands are not a real money generator for our program but we feel it is an important contribution to the organization.  It is done as a courtesy to our members as well as visiting teams that don't have time to prepare a meal or even stop for a meal between work or church and the game.  That is why it is so important for us to continue with our volunteer program so we can keep the concession stands open.

We had a lot of succes with our new Volunteer requirements in 2011 for each family.  We will continue to improve on these each year.  The Volunteer Requirements for 2012 are outlined below.

Volunteer Requirements for each Family

Fort Calhoun Youth Sports Organization is pleased to provide sports programs to the youth in our community.  In 2011 our volunteer program changed in order to help keep our registration costs down, accommodate the volunteer needs and assist in improving our programs.

Did you know……….

  • Most sports are not self-sustaining meaning we charge less for registration than it costs for the kids to participate in the sports.  Some sports fall short by several thousand dollars each year.
  • Without Sponsors and fundraising efforts FCYSO would have to almost double our fees.
  • FCYSO registration fees are less than 70% of Omaha programs and scholarships are available.

2012 Requirements include a $150 volunteer deposit per family.  This deposit will be held until each family puts in their required 8 hours/credits of total volunteer time.  The following are included as volunteer hours:

  • Concession stand shifts – 1 credit per each hour worked
  • Volunteering during a tournament (score book, announcer, gate fees, set up, concessions, etc.) – 1 credit per each hour worked
  • Projects like field improvement/construction (project list will be provided) – 1 credit per each hour worked
  • Baseball/Softball/T-ball field preparation before games – 1 credit per each hour worked
  • Baseball/Softball stats and scorebook keeper - 1 credit per each hour worked
  • FCYSO Board Member – 8 hours credit
  • FCYSO Director of a Sport – 8 hours credit
  • FCYSO Equipment Manager of a Sport – 8 hours credit
  • Team Parent – 8 hours credit
  • Corporate sponsorship of FCYSO – 4 hours credit
  • Coach of a sport – 8 hours credit

Each team for each age will have a designated volunteer who is Team Parent.  This person is there to assist the coaches with communication to the parents so the coaches can focus on coaching the kids.  They will also schedule concession slots for 100% of your home games and work with Director of Concessions to ensure all parents on your team have fulfilled their volunteer obligation.

Since FCYSO is a volunteer organization we need to enlist everyone’s help to make our children’s sports programs successful.  Your assistance and volunteer hours are greatly appreciated and will help us grow and be able to provide a good foundation to for Sportsmanship......Teamwork......Integrity for our youth.
